Which Candies Have Have The Most Sugar?

Which Candies Have Have The Most Sugar?

Ostensibly, this chart from WaPo's Wonkblog is about ranking candy by its sugar content so you can consume the maximum amount of sugar, and it does a fine job of that. But looking at it, all I can think about is how everything north of Gummy Bears coming in at a full 70 percent sugar is so much more alarming than I thought it would be. And just what's going on with Pixie Stix and co., not nailing the full 100? It's literally a bag full of sugar! Is the remaining serving size reserved for the paper you end up eating? You always, always end up eating a buncha paper along with your Pixie Stix.

Concrete Jungle is a game where you build a city. But not like you would in SimCity. You construct cities in Concrete Jungle by building a deck, like a card game. How did nobody think of this until now?

What Are Some Things That Are Legal, But People Think Are Illegal?

Good thread.
Lifehacker What Are Some Things That Are Legal, But People Think Are Illegal?

What Are Some Things That Are Legal, But People Think Are Illegal?

At a glance, the laws of the United States seem pretty straightforward. After all, you probably can't keep a flamethrower around or have a pet tiger, right? Actually, in some states, you can. With that in mind, let's make a list of some of the things you've always thought were illegal but are actually totally okay to do.

This post is part of our Evil Week series at Lifehacker, where we look at the dark side of getting things done. Knowing evil means knowing how to beat it, so you can use your sinister powers for good. Want more? Check out our evil week tag page.

Because laws vary by state to state, it's hard to keep track of what's legal in some places and isn't in others. So, we're looking to you to help us build up this list. We're looking for anything that most people would usually think is illegal to do or own that actually isn't. We'll get the listed started, but we're more interested in what you know. Here's how to format your submission:

  1. Include a picture if you can: Unless the illegal activity is NSFW, include a picture with your comment.
  2. One activity per comment, please! Let's keep this easy to read. List only one activity in your comment.
  3. Try not to repeat: If someone's already made a similar comment, give them a start or reply to their comment with your experience.
  4. Give a little background: Link to the law when you can, or talk about how you've seen it in action.

With that, let's get started.

Remove Plastic Food Container Odors by Storing Them with Salt

Remove Plastic Food Container Odors by Storing Them with Salt

If you tend to make pungent meals—or just forgot about one in the fridge—you probably have to deal with smelly containers. Adding a pinch of salt to your container after washing it can help keep the leftover odors at bay.

It's pretty disheartening—not to mention unappetizing—when you grab a plastic food container to store your meal and it just plain stinks. You washed it with soap and water, maybe ran it through the dishwasher, and it still smells nasty. Leah Bhabha at cooking blog Food52 suggests adding a pinch of salt to your clean containers before putting them away. The salt will absorb some of the odor and it also acts as an antimicrobial, killing off any odor-causing germs. When you're ready to use it, just rinse out the salt, and your container should be stink free. If you happen to have some newspaper around, the carbon in the paper can help you keep odors to minimum as well.

Here's What You Should Know About Tempeh — Ingredient Intelligence

I would describe myself as an inquisitive, open and adventurous eater, who believes in trying everything at least twice. Yet there's one food that has always been a mystery to me — tempeh. When it comes to meat alternatives, I've been all too happy to stay within my comfort zone of tofu and vegetables.

But all of that is about to change! Curiosity has finally gotten the best of me. I decided to really learn the basics of tempeh, how it's made, and how to cook it. Here's what I learned, and what you should know about this nutty protein.

Mets have contacted Dave Magadan about hitting coach vacancy

Favorite ball player ever!
Metsblog Mets have contacted Dave Magadan about hitting coach vacancy

The Mets have contacted Dave Magadan about their vacancy at hitting coach, he told the New York Post. 1

Magadan is currently the hitting coach for the Rangers and is signed through the 2015 season. But, after Ron Washington resigned as Texas' manager, the organization has allowed coaches permission to talk with other clubs.

The Yankees have also contacted Magadan, he said.

The Mets, Blue Jays and Braves have talked by phone with Kevin Long about being their hitting coach, according to a league source. 2

Magadan has also served as hitting coach for the Boston Red Sox and San Diego Padres.

He was drafted by the Mets in 1983 and played in the big leagues for them from 1986 though 1992. He hit .288 with a .390 OBP over 16 seasons in MLB.
