I Can't Stop Watching This Dude Try To Hit A 186-MPH Fastball

Ever wondered what it'd be like to stand in against a big-league hurler? Yeah, this is kinda like that, but if the hurler was, like, a Terminator or something. Here's former Japanese ballplayer Takeshi Yamasaki, trying to get his bat around on a nearly 200-mph fastball (the fun starts at around 3:45 in the video below):

The Spaceship Game With Firefly-Sized Ambitions

"The TV show Firefly is a big inspiration for us," Dreadnought project director Peter Holzapfel was saying to me recently during a San Francisco preview event. "So is Sid Meier's Pirates." And then, for just a moment, that ceased to matter as a ship ten times the size of mine warped right in front of me.

I Flew Like a Bird Using Oculus Rift

I Flew Like a Bird Using Oculus Rift

It should be a truth universally acknowledged that any man or woman using Oculus Rift will look like a dumbass . As awesome as it is to experience Oculus Rift, to everyone else, you are a crazy person with a black box strapped onto your face groping at thin air. And then I, of course, had to strap myself to some wings, stick my feet in the air, and flap my arms to Birdly—an ambitious virtual reality flying simulation.

How Would NYC Respond to a Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Attack?

It's been 30 years since the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man first squished through Manhattan. With Ghostbusters returning to theaters tomorrow for an anniversary run, we thought it appropriate to consider a very serious question: How would New York City actually fight an evil god in the form of a marshmallow man? Stickiness and spoilers ensue.

The Vyper Hands-On: This Vibrating Foam Roller Is Freaking Incredible

It's no secret that foam rollers have been a key part of physical therapy for years. Athletes use them not only to heal from injury, but also to increase flexibility before training and to speed recovery after strenuous exercise. The Vyper is the first foam roller to add vibration to the equation though, and holy crap it's amazing.

Boil Tofu Instead of Pressing It to Reduce Moisture

Lifehacker Boil Tofu Instead of Pressing It to Reduce Moisture

Boil Tofu Instead of Pressing It to Reduce Moisture

For many recipes, firm tofu requires pressure to squeeze out the moisture. Pouring boiled salt water over the tofu gives you similar results in a fraction of the time.

We've covered how salt draws out moisture in salads and how salted water makes better french fries, and the same rules apply here. Soaking your tofu in salted water draws out the moisture and adds seasoning. Vegetarian cooking blog Herbivoracious suggests this tip is best for crisping up pan fried tofu.

Check the link for other quick tips on cooking tofu.

Yo, GameCubes Are Selling For $20 At GameStop

I have six inputs in the back of my TV. I do not have a permanent space for my Xbox One. I do have one for my GameCube. That says a lot about Nintendo's little system that could, which is now temporarily back in stock at GameStop, with refurbished consoles selling for $20 (thanks nrvalleytime).

If You Have (or Want to Have) a Standing Desk, Buy this Mat Today

Lifehacker If You Have (or Want to Have) a Standing Desk, Buy this Mat Today

If You Have (or Want to Have) a Standing Desk, Buy this Mat Today

There's a lot of momentum behind standing desks these days, and I happen to love mine. But if you want to be able to stand comfortably for more than a few hours at a time, you absolutely need a good anti-fatigue mat.

Most mats under $50 are only going to be 3/8" thick, which sounds okay in theory, but is basically useless in practice. Believe me, I tried. Today only though, you can get a cushy 3/4" thick gel mat, in the color of your choice, for only $30. I paid $70 for a very similar mat not too long ago.

Even if you don't have a standing desk, these things can do wonders for your feet and back if you stand for long periods in the kitchen, so you really don't have anything to lose. [Amazon]
